Well folks, that’s it, I’m done with the Superior hiking trail! The last few days were just nice hiking, nothing significant or noteworthy really happened, I was just chugging along enjoying my forests!
So overall, I really enjoyed this trail, it’s a very pretty walk through lovely forests. However, I would never walk it during the summer again, if I was ever going to hike this again it would absolutely be at the end of September/early October to get the fall colors. I’m guessing that at that time of year this trail would change from nice/lovely to absolutely spectacular! Who knows, maybe I’ll come back someday and find out
The view from Pincushion mtnIt was very rare to see actual open spaces on this trail! This is the ONLY part of the trail that actually goes along the lake! We get 1 mile of beautiful lake walking and then it’s right back up to the hills This is the Devil’s Kettle, because the waterfall on the left seems to disappear into that cavern. Where does the water go? WHERE DOES IT GO?!? Highest point! A huge 1829 feet!! My last campsite on the SHT. It was probably the worst campsite I’ve ever had (at least in a very long time). The actual campsite was full of a group of teenage boys who had taken up every single spot, so I had to grab this horrible little site. I guess it worked for a night, but I was not a happy thru hikerThe trail ends at what they call the “270 degree overlook”, and it is a very lovely spot to end the trailHanging out at the end of the trail, contemplating life
Well, it’s been an interesting experience so far on the good ole sunshine trail. To start with, the trail isn’t actually along lake Superior, it’s *near* the lake up in the hills. Who knew? Why do none of these trails actually go along the bodies of water that you would assume they do from their…
Well, there’s not a whole lot to mention, I’ve just been cruising along and trying to enjoy as much of the ocean as I possibly can. I saw whales and Depoe Beach, tide pools all over in Yachats, harbor seals near Waldport (and then again all along the coast, they kept popping up!). It’s just…
Made it to Snoqualmie pass, and really quickly too! I’ve definitely gotten my thru-hiker legs back, I’ve been doing 28-30 mile days recently and still feel really good, so that’s amazing… The trail from White Pass to Snoqualmie pass isn’t as spectacular or amazing as the first part of Washington, there are no dramatic stories…
Washington is amazing!! I’m so glad that I made the decision to pop up to Cascade Locks and hike north from there, for lots of reasons: First, Washington is gorgeous, this is some of the best hiking on the PCT! Also, it’s actually a relief to become a section hiker, I just feel so much…
We’re starting the sunshine coast trail today! So far it’s been amazing, it took 2 car ferries and about 5 hours of driving to get here, but we made it eventually… This is a short trail, 110 miles, we’re going to try and do it in 6 days, but so far it’s been amazing! we…
