Oregon Coast Trail – Port Orford

We’re getting close to the end! The past couple of days on the trail have actually been rainy, that’s really the first time this entire summer that I’ve had to hike in the rain, which is pretty amazing!  Otherwise it’s just been a lot of lovely beach walking and meeting new friends.  There was one river crossing that was a little scary, the river Sixes, which had a water level up over my waist when we crossed – it’s one of those rivers that should definitely be crossed at low tide, and we were there basically at the peak of high tide, because, well because that’s just the way it worked out.  We made it though.

Making new friends! This is William and Barkley.  I hiked with them for basically a full day, and Barkley immediately decided that I was part of his pack, so he would yowl and complain whenever his pack wasn’t all traveling together.  I crossed the Sixes with them, and Barkley was definitely very worried about me until I got across, he even tried to dive back in a couple of times to “help” me across 🥰

Campsite at Cape Blanco state park.  I loved this park, it’s basically set in the middle of a dense forest and was just beautiful!
